My Camaro Key Wont Come Out
It has been in the shop at least 6 - 8 times for the key getting stuck in the ignition.
My camaro key wont come out. The key is locked in the ACC position when it needs to be in the O. Turning the wheel doesnt help at all and I had to keep turning the car on and off until the key would budge. Believe it or not when your Car key wont come out ignition switch its because of a rash of bad ignition switches in GM vehicles. There is a small pin that comes out of the solenoid. If the car cannot be shifted into park you will need to have repairs made to the shifter.

When the switch fails in the open position it doesnt provide battery power to the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock BTSI fuse. It can no longer move and the key can always be removed. If the battery is more than 4-5 years old replace it outright.
It is on the bottom side of the column. I placed a piece of 516 vacuum hose over the pin to hold it in the unlocked position. One of the mechanism that is activated when you insert and turn the key is the shift interlock system.
On the cylinder theres the O then ACC then the start symbol. There is a small metal C clip on the front side of the knob. If your vehicle does not shift into park you will not be able to get the key out of the ignition.
